VARINDER SINGH: from a RED LINE wonder to a LEADER IN ACTION

You are one of those 552 Indians reading this story of a person who in his childhood days was as confused as a child in a topless bar. A person who was born on 20th March, 1989 in a land of Uranium Mines – Mosaboni (60 kilo meters from Jamshedpur in Jharkhand) and whose entry in this world brought smiles on hundreds of faces is here to share with you a fact that how small things bring Big Revolutions.
Dressed in white shirt, grey half pants and a with a tie on my shirt, I was ready to attend my first day of my class in Vig English School in Jamshedpur where I was admitted in class V, just because I scored miserably in class IV at St. Joseph’s Convent High School and could manage to save 5 subjects from getting a red line out of the 8 that I appeared. I was not thrown of the school but was thrown out of my grandparent’s house. My grandparent’s wanted me to get under the clutches of my father. First day of school with new faces, unknown buildings, unfamiliar corridors and teachers, who appeared to me as aliens, many thoughts came floating to my cerebrum as I was keen to know about my new friends in my new school, I wanted to get mixed with my fellow mates but I was given a seat in the last bench of the class. At first, I thought that to be a tradition to welcome the newly admitted students to the school but later I realized that I was made to sit with the brightest student of the class who became a very good friend of mine after few days. It’s true that sometimes our bench partners turn out to be our best associates. By the time I joined this school, quarter of a session was already over and I was told that I had missed 4 weekly tests. I tried to study to make up to my missed classes and concepts, but could manage to get a rank of 52 in the class which had a total strength of 54 students. I was happy because I was ahead of 2 students in my class but my dad wasn’t. On listening to this news he displayed me 7 stages of fury.
I was promoted to class VI. It was time to wear full pants and write with pen. This excited me to attend classes. I loved playing gully cricket but ‘Vicky! Go and study’ was one phrase which kept on ringing bells in my mind. Reading text books or doing home works was something which I never enjoyed. I wanted to live in world full of enjoyment and excitement, a world which would free a student from books, home works and exams. I enjoyed my time in school talking to friends, hitting them with chalks when the teacher would turn towards the black board to write, snatching their Tiffin boxes and decorating the class’ soft board. My parents kept on warning me about the exams but these warnings always fell in deaf ears. I was living in my own world when suddenly I realized that it was exams time and I had no other option left in my bag. I studied but this time I had a reason to be proud of myself because this time I was ahead of 4 students in the class. I could find an improvement in myself from 2 to 4. But this improvement was too low to inspire me to study.
I moved to class VII. My course was becoming tougher and tougher and I couldn’t find things going my way. Suddenly I got a brainchild. This was enough to make me study till my board exams because I shared the idea of opening a big variety store with my dad after completing my board exams. This business would flourish as it was evident from my lackadaisical attitude towards studies and an added interest towards recreation. As soon as I shared this idea with my dad, the next moment came a reply from my dad. I still remember those exact words which he uttered. If I distort those words, I will take the spirit of the man away. He said,” If you have anything to discuss related to my studies, I have both Time and Money for you. If it’s related to anything apart from your studies, I have neither Time nor money for you. ” I was traumatized at this. A pageant silence got gulfed on my face.
It seemed as if I have lost the battle of my life. I felt deserted even among my own loved ones. It seemed as if my strength and determination has flown away in the horizon, in just one dolt. I had nothing to repent over the most precious dreams of my life, though there wasn’t any fault of mine. I tried to convince my mother but landed up in vain.
Those words of my father inspired me. Those words motivated me. And then came along a time when I realized that nothing is constant and permanent in the world, neither time nor life, neither problems nor solutions; neither precautions nor cure, neither success nor failure. I felt that the dreams that I had lost was never mine. I acquired that dream just in the process of combating the battle of time. Then I started emerging my curiosity to study and work hard, this time as a student and not as a business man.
I still remember those moments when I stood 17th in the class of 54. That gave me a chance to boost up my confidence level. I worked hard and could manage to end up my school life as one among the top 3 students of the class for which I am proud to be even today. I realized a talent in me and that was my ability to speak in front of any big crowd. I gave enough time to nurture this talent and it had helped me to win 5 national level awards till now. I got into engineering at KIIT University, Bhubaneswar and during the 4 long year vacations, I did almost all the things which I could and this arrayed from organizing events to night outs, late night sleep to regular classes and from no smoking to no drinking.
Today I have much more in my bags than just drafters, dreams and documents. This was possible because I didn’t lose hope. I had faith and belief in myself. I realized that every human is born with a purpose. So I kept on thinking positive and behaving like and optimist. I wish that these positive vibrations will keep on attracting and attaching new strings in my life. These strings will bring and create harmony and music in my colourful life. Today my life has become a musical note….

INDIA UnMute

6o years back, a salute of 21 guns and the unfurling of Indian tri-colour by Dr. Rajendra Prasad harbingered the historic birth of The Republic of India on 26th January 1950. The transition of India from a British colony to a sovereign, secular, socialist republic was indeed historical. The number of battles fought, the number of lives lost and the number of sacrifices made were innumerable and will always remain untold. It was a long journey of around two decades that started with the conceptualization of dream in 1930 to its actual realization in 1950.
Recently we celebrated out 64th Independence Day and in every walk of our journey till this 64th year we have found that Indians were on the top. Many westerns, who have seen India, call it a continent. The reason being, there is hardly any country in the world with so much diversity. There is a unique sensation in every street of India which cannot be felt in any other country across this globe. Indian has left indelible imprints on one fourth of the human race in the course of a long succession of centuries. India has the right to reclaim her place amongst the greatest nations summarizing and symbolizing the spirit of humanity. From Kashmir to Kanyakumari, from Tirupati to Jama Masjid, from Golden Temple in Amritsar to The Syro-Malabar Church in Kerala, India has propagated her beliefs, her tradition, her tales and her civilization.
INDIA UnMute is an archetype of all that is true, beautiful and uncensored. The splendor that was India and the potential that is India will fuse together to form a picture which will portray my thoughts into words. INDIA UnMute is perfect intermingling of the old and the new, spiritual and material, urban and rural, religious and cultural, scientific and technological.
Many challenges have come our way but each time we have outperformed above our expectations. But looking at the present state of affairs, we have been recurrently followed by flaws and blemishes. Few things are omnipresent in our nation. Illiteracy, beggary, corruption and deceitfulness are few concepts which have coexisted with our success stories. We say we are free but we are not free from Illiteracy. We are not free from corruption. We are still under the clutches of some power hungry leaders who are bickering. We still live in a nation state where the salary hike of MP’s are 300% and still they are demanding for more. We live in a kingdom where over 200 railway accidents takes place just in a span of 14months. We live in a nation where 13.26% of total MP’s in our parliament are not even class 10 pass. We call it a nation where transparence is still not a buzzword for governance. We live in a country which is guided more by the stars and the fate and less by dynamic men who are expected to write their own fate.
An all round development of the human personality for the achievement of perfection of the each human body, mind and soul is still a dream for us to cherish. We are still in the hunt of that day when the mind will be without fear and head will be held high, when the people will be virtuous and prosperous, when there will be no distinction between people and people, when truth, non-violence, virtue, high caliber, moral values and above all integrity of character will be the hallmark of Indian society, when there will be human beings without the tag of Hindus, Muslims, Sikhs, Christians, Black, White and Browns who will leave for the cause of humanity, when educational institutions will no longer be a playground for dirty politics, nepotism, cliques and international rivalries, when our respected MP’s will fight for the commoners and not for salaries, when films and other audio-visual media of mass communication will entertain and education people and will no more vulgarize life, when crimes, criminals, theft and anti-social elements will b unknown to the society, when the ground of politics will only be a platform for social service and welfare of the people of the country and above all when all Indians will have same bank balance, when mankind and humanity will live in a spirit of friendship, love, fraternity and peaceful coexistence.
INDIA UnMute has been written upon the fundamental processes at work, within the Indian society and for whose realizations, many like me, are committed to the last drop of their blood. We dream of a day when our motherland would be the best example of peace, sedate, prosperity, progress, evolution and brotherly co-existence to the whole world.

Respect the value of TIME

Have you ever noticed rocks in the sea, beaten by tempest? A furious wave dashes against the rock, another and yet another does likewise, yet the rock is unmoved. But look at it after the storm has subsided and you will see that the flood has but served to wash and purify it on the defilement it has contracted during the calm. Hereafter, we wish you be as a rock. A wave dashes against you? Silence. It assails you again, and yet again. Silence. Say only, “Oh sweet will of God, I adore thee.”
“Our God is our refuge and strength: a helper in troubles”
Right job at right time helps the students to inculcate the art of creativity in them and see them as budding scholars. We have great expectation from these leaders of tomorrow.
As a bridge-builder does not stop when he completes a part of bridge, and as a passenger on the bridge wishing to arrive at his destination across the river does not encamp or build a permanent house on the bridge. Dear mates you cannot afford to halt on the way to success.
“Strength of mind is exercise not rest”
Resolve to make the most of TIME as success lies in your daily agenda, aim at its worthies use. A man who is young in years may be old in hours if he has lost no time. Be avaricious of time. Do not give away any moment without receiving it in any value. Observe a method in distributing of time. Know true values of time, snatch, seize, and enjoy every moment, no idleness and no laziness. Never put on till tomorrow what can be done today. New time always, old time we cannot keep. Time if sacred respect it and if you land up respecting time then you will stand alone and will proudly say “IMS – I m Successful”

TECHNOLOGISTS: THE FUTURE ENTREPRENEURS

The only thing constant in this world is ‘CHANGE’ and the word ‘Technologists’ makes a distinctive allusion to this innate fact of the world. The word ‘Technology’ comes from a Greek word – ‘technologia’ which means the branch of knowledge of some discipline. The knowledge, the tools and the process used to create the medium in which the innovation of life exists and through which this innovation is conveyed is all technology. Technology greatly impacts upon the construction and undertone of various discoveries. It is also the discipline which deals with the art of science of applying scientific knowledge to practical problems. In fact, technology is the practical application of science to commerce or to industry.
The human species' use of technology began with the conversion of natural resources into simple tools. The pre historical discovery of the ability to control fireincreased the available sources of food and the invention of the wheel helped humans in travelling in and controlling their environment. Recent technological developments, including the printing press, the telephone, and the Internet, have lessened physical barriers to communication and allowed humans to interact freely on a global scale. However, not all technology has been used for peaceful purposes; the development of weaponsof ever-increasing destructive power has progressed throughout history, from clubs to nuclear weapons. This is the stage which is giving birth to a child called ‘Entrepreneurship’, which will handle tomorrow’s future.
The word ‘Technology’ is not a new one. In fact, the root of the word means to shift or to change and was used originally with the altering life. As some eminent scientists and policy planners recognized this idea of man changing nature, rather than being controlled by it was essential to the emergence of the autonomous self, and eventually to the very notion of the entrepreneurs. Thus, technology and entrepreneurs go together to tell the tale.
The 20th century has been a period of revolution. Momentous changes have take place, whereas change in human innovations was knocking at the doors since the inception of human race. With the globalization of the market and the erasing of socio-cultural barriers, Technology has become a global village. Moreover, the neo policies of liberalization and privatization of government policies have given birth to diversified sectors in technology.
Since the beginning of time, there has been some form of technology occurring. In the early 1700’s, when a father taught his son how to build fire using two objects or a mother taught her daughter how to prepare meal over an open pit fire, those were some stereotypic examples of very basic form of technology. As the time has progressed, we have created a much more easy and diverse technology arena which involves multiplicity of professionals working with a variety of perplexing learners and entrepreneurs. The expression,” The more we change, the more we stay the same” apply to the situation. Arta Costa stated,” It seems like in Technology we go through a reform once in about every ten seconds.”
Technology is often a consequence of science and engineering - although technology as a human activity precedes the two fields. For example, science might study the flow of electrons in electrical conductors, by using already-existing tools and knowledge. This new-found knowledge may then be used by engineers to create new tools and machines, such as semi conductors, computers, and other forms of advanced technology. In this sense, scientists and engineers may both be considered technologists; the three fields are often considered as one for the purposes of research and reference. These semiconductors and computers will give birth to some future entrepreneurs who will give them an additional value and make them a brand of some commercial value which will then be available in the market for the users and will lead to the concept of Entrepreneurship from technology.
To use an analogy, think of a musician who is not an engineer but is fluent with the tools of recording studio. He can effortlessly and effectively communicate with the engineer and the producer in order to get the sound he hears from him head phones onto the tape. It is the same deal with tech. Similarly, as an entrepreneur you will need to make manifest your vision in profusion of ways, being able to efficiently convey your dreams to those who can strive to make them real. This is because there are few people who live in dream, while there are others who live in reality but the beauty of human progress are those men who think of dreams and strive to make them real and these men are called ‘Entrepreneurs’. Today in this era of world, when we cannot think of any industry where technology (either in form of presence of internet or any general means of communication) is not crucial, but the entrepreneurs must be incredibly tech-savvy. This does not mean that entrepreneurs must know how to code, though that can be a real bonus. I believe that one of the reasons ‘CDBaby’ was able to succeed at the level it has is because its founder is first and foremost a coder. But it does mean that an entrepreneur must understand the language and the trends of technology. And if he does then it’s like the technicians becoming the future entrepreneurs.
Today with the advent of such tools as the computer, internet, nanotechnology and many other discoveries have been made this creature ‘Technology’ is of simple delights which has much more in its bag than just drafters, documents and dreams. Being the most respectful sector, it devours every decimal of careful life.
Jim Collins, in his book, 'GOOD TO GREAT sums this up when he says, “Technology is an accelerator.” Embedded in this simple statement is a lot of wisdom. First, while Collins confirms that technology is indeed an accelerator, he doesn’t qualify the statement in terms of exactly where or what technology is accelerating. In other words, technology can accelerate both good and bad ideas, and it can accelerate these ideas towards success or failure. Think of technology as some sort of widget that sits in between ideas and the future. Whether entrepreneurs put good ideas (that is, ideas that are strategic and aligned with their core principles) or bad ideas (random acts of improvement) into the technological accelerator will determine whether and at what meter per second of velocity you step towards success or failure.
The modernization of the technical world will give the future entrepreneurs a chance to have a clear concept of what they are trying to accomplish and leverage technology in order to take the cake with the red cherry on the top. In order to ascertain about the type of technology which will align the goals of entrepreneurs, they must have a very open and inquisitive bias towards technology. With the advances made in programming and user interface (UI) design, today’s technology is very user friendly. The fact of the matter is, if it’s not user friendly it won’t stick around too long, because a competitor will come along and make it user friendly. If you don’t believe this then ask the founders of a website called ‘Friendster’, which predated another website ‘MySpace’ by several years, and followed largely the same guideline of creating technology that works just with the implementation of a new concept i.e. it  is user friendly. Friendster at this point is barely a footnote, while MySpace has more users than the entire population of Mexico.
Today technology is the battle with the best. These days it can be viewed as an activity that forms or changes culture. Additionally, technology is the application of math, science, and the arts for the benefit of life as it is known. A modern example is the rise of communication technology, which has lessened barriers to human interaction and, as a result, has helped spawn new subcultures; the rise of syber culture has, at its basis, the development of modern tools. Not all technology enhances culture in a creative way; technology can also help facilitate political oppression and war via tools such as guns. As a cultural activity, technology predates both science and engineering, each of which formalizes some aspects of technological endeavor. Some new products, new industries, and more jobs today require continuous additions to knowledge of the laws of nature. This essential new knowledge can be obtained only through basic scientific research which will later turn you down as the future entrepreneurs at the end of the day. In the late 1960s, however, this view came under direct attack, leading towards initiatives to fund science for specific tasks (initiatives resisted by the scientific community). The issue remains contentious though most analysts resist the model that technology simply is a result of scientific research and this result is for the betterment of animal and plant culture which will give you fruit to earn your living.
Human ancestors have been using stone and other tools since long before the emergence of Home sapiens approximately 200,000 years ago. The earliest methods of stone tool making, known as the 'Oldowan Industry’, date back to at least 2.3 million years ago, with the earliest direct evidence of tool usage found in Etjiopia within the Great Rift Valley, dating back to 2.5 million years ago. This era of stone tool use is called the Paleolitic, or "Old stone age", and spans all of human history up to the development of agriculture approximately 12,000 years ago. This concept of technology is today being picked up as a mean of art, culture and sculpture. This idea has been very well taken the future entrepreneurs as medium of decoration which had made it a brand with a commercial value.
The exact relation between technology and entrepreneurship in particular has been debated a lot, several expert were held, many guidelines has been issued and many policies have been planned by scientists, historians and eminent policy planners in the late 20th century, in part because these debates, guidelines and policies had itself  made a dent in the field of entrepreneurship.
Today in the age of enlightenment, from wooden spoon to a golden plate, from a postal card to a pen drive, from bullock cart to a Ferrari and from slums to huge educational conglomerates there has been some form of technology, which has led to the stead fast progress of human fraternity in the fields of industrialization and capital formation. Technology will enable a man to get to the top and it will make him an entrepreneur to make him stay there.
Hence to conclude, it is very evident to say that the way technology is giving wings to itself in present and in future, it will develop some individuals who may not be Einstein’s son, nor may they dream of a Nobel Prize for Physics, Chemistry or Medicine but yet they will have something diverse in them which will make them stand ahead of others and people will say that these men are somewhat incredible that something implausible flew from their pens, quills, minds and keyboards. And these men will be called as ‘FUTURE ENTREPRENEURS’. While there will be others who will join hands to feel their tastes and flavor. Because the development of technology will breech the boundary’s and cross the limits and they will remove the tension that they themselves will create. We hope that the human side of them shall be quenched with their activities and opinions on what is taking place in the biosphere…!!!

 CELEBRATING DIVERSITY

Diversity is a concept which encompasses acceptance and respect. It is a concept which explains that each individual is unique, and recognizes their individual differences. These can be along the dimensions of race, physical abilities, religious beliefs, political beliefs, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, socio-economic status, age or any other ideologies. Diversity is also the exploration of these differences in a safe, positive, and nurturing environment. It is about understanding each other and moving beyond simple tolerance to embrace and celebrate the rich dimensions of diversity contained within each individual. Diversity may refer to business, dance, politics, index, jurisdiction, scheme, training or any other field.
Significant technological changes (such as printing press, electricity, the telephone, television, and computers) have increased the mobility of the people all over the planet during past hundred years. The invention of steam driven trains, the automobiles and inexpensive air tickets also contributed significant changes. The spread of democratic government, efflorescence of the middle class, Urbanization, Einstein’s theory of Relativity, change in the role played by women, the relaxation of many of the world’s geographic boundaries and the examples of what has been happening at the very rapid pace all over the world. This benchmark has been achieved because we have learnt to celebrate the diversity across us.
In fact the world seems to be getting smaller every day. Public and private institutions, metropolitan areas, even entire country seems less and less homogeneous. Most countries, in fact, have become transformed from one cultural society into ethnically, religiously or linguistically pluralistic. Our newly possible contact with many cultures or people is seen, more and more is enriching. The operation of Indian youth becoming global icons seems to exemplify the heterogeneity of today’s world. By the end of the nineteenth century, we have started to celebrate diversity and it has become a legitimate part of our social policy.
When we learn how to celebrate diversity, we learn to establish a partnership to develop talent amongst youth and utilize it for the betterment of humanity and nature. Celebrating diversity enables the beauty to enthrall, tradition to speak, culture to echo and diversity itself to delight. It sets a stage for improvisational skills and the latent talent housed in today’s youth. It makes a distinctive allusion to the fact that the only thing constant in this world is ‘change’.
The celebration of diversity makes a riot of colors and a sea of smiles which creates its own mark and leaves the other people flabbergasted and spell bound. It makes chromatic expression of pure energy, laudable talent and extreme exuberance. It makes an attempt to augment the vigor with several kinds of exhilarating features. It also makes an attempt to rediscover the essence of and a way to creatively create the uncreated. The celebration of diversity in the field of work place or in life enables an individual to fly freely and independently in air.
Today in this era of enlightenment, the celebration of diversity has reached its own benchmark but is still aspiring for more. This has already created some places on the face of earth where all dreams of living men have found a home. Celebration of diversity will always provide a vision of the natural and real way of life. Diversity in every form (May it be cultural, political or anything else) has constantly been celebrated by individuals which had helped them in developing their power of knowledge, caliber and perseverance. That has inspired the youth to be the change that they want to see.
